Established in 1989 to offer “Professional Knowledge for Teachers” courses to the Departments of Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry, the Department of Educational Sciences aims to train teachers, administrators, and experts who can become leaders in the information society. As a result of the new restructuring carried out by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK) regarding teacher training, the Department of Educational Sciences shifted its focus to graduate programs starting in the 1998–1999 academic year. It began admitting undergraduate students in the 2011–2012 academic year.
Today, the Department of Educational Sciences, located within the Faculty of Education at Yıldız Technical University, consists of six sub-departments.
